The Race Card
The Race Card is about Victoria, a young black teen who attends a mostly white high school as part of the METCO program, the longest running desegregation program in Boston. As one of the only minorities at her school, she speaks out against her English teacher for using the n word during class, who says, “It’s just part of the literature.”
Victoria’s satirical essay, “The Race Card,” gives her a voice against injustice by throwing their ignorance back in full force.
